Case Study 1- Umbilical Clamp Manufacture

Camco Engineering was contacted by a large multinational Subsea Service Supplier to provide emergency manufacturing support over a weekend. The speed in which the manufacture was to take place provided challenges to the Camco suppliers and operational staff.

Problem:
Manufacture 25 umbilical clamps by Tuesday from an order placed at 5.00 pm on a Friday afternoon. Find suitable materials to manufacture components from after hours, source staff to swell the weekend team’s numbers and provide full QA certification for products manufactured in an extremely demanding schedule.

Solution:
Camco Engineering’s strong supplier relationship built on trust and integrity provided the opportunity for afterhours access to raw materials. Machine shop equipment was then reassigned to provide access to machining centers suitable to the manufacturing process. Staff was requested to provide 24 hour coverage over the weekend in 12 hour shifts until the completion of the umbilical clamps.

Outcome:
Working as a team in conjunction with our suppliers, client engineering staff and the Camco management and operations team it was possible to deliver 25 umbilical clamps in an unprecedented manufacturing period allowing our customer to meet their deliverables.

Case Study 2 – Loading Arm

As one of the few Australian companies with Loading Arm experience, Camco was contracted by a major gas producer to refurbish their Condensate Loading Arms. The Loading Arms were removed by our team and transported Perth for refurbishment. The overhaul of the Loading Arms required a significant commitment of workshop facilities and available engineering disciplines.
Problem:
The Loading Arms were in poor condition and needed a dedicated team backed by technical support with a specialised facility to repair and manufacture components. Adding to the complexity of the repairs was the difficult task of removing the Loading Arms from the wharf between ship movements whilst unpredictable weather conditions prevailed.
Solution:
Camco Engineering in conjunction with the client established a process to safely remove the Loading Arms in cradles and pedestals designed, fabricated and load tested at Camco Engineering’s Canning Vale facility. Workshop refurbishment stages required a working relationship between Camco’s Engineering staff, client engineers and the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) engineers. Engaging Camco Engineering and the OEM support engineer provided the client with access to highly skilled staff and quality equipment to develop overhaul procedures, critical component reproduction and repair.

Outcome:
The rebuild of a critical and complex piece of equipment was completed on time and under budget. The successful outcome was achieved through team dedication and demonstrated Camco’s ability to work in conjunction with the OEM and the client.
